December 27, 2021 Procedures Update

Dear Clients,

As we end the year of 2021 and enter into 2022, we hear news of climbing numbers of COVID-19 cases in our state, region, and nation.  We continue to rely on the latest information from the CDC about transmission and prevention.  We thank you for your partnership in protecting yourselves and one another in these days and moving forward.

As previously stated, We have learned during this time of pandemic that COVID-19 and it’s variants are spread primarily by air, and that duration and proximity are key factors in spread and transmission. This, in relation to the specifics of proximity and duration in a massage and sound therapy session, has informed our policies and cleaning protocols and the other efforts we have taken at 7 Notes Natural Health, especially and specifically related to air purification and air quality throughout the space.

Therefore, as we move into 2022, we continue the follow practices:

MASKS – Masks must be worn in all common areas and for group events.

AIR PURIFICATION – We will continue the use of HEPA air filters throughout the space and as weather allows, ventilate with open windows in our spaces where possible.

CLEANING and SANITATION – We will continue all cleaning protocols.  All clients and class participants are encouraged to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer.

SCREENING – We will continue to take your temperature (at your wrist) upon arrival.  We ask all clients to use the practice of personal accountability, in regard to health.  If you are not feeling well, please contact us to reschedule.

I thank you for your understanding and patience as we navigate this next phase of the pandemic. I appreciate your trust in my ability to help you hear, see, and feel true wellness and I look forward to your next session.

July 1, 2021 Procedures Update

Dear Clients,

On June 22, 2021, our state’s leadership announced that all statewide COVID mandates are lifted including mask regulation, gathering restrictions, etc. Concurrently, MIOSHA issued an update keeping many previously issued COVID mandates for medical and healthcare facilities through December 22, 2021. Being that massage therapists hold a state issued healthcare practitioner’s license, we are generally subject to the same regulation as medical and healthcare facilities. This MIOSHA update specifically refers to healthcare and medical practices where there is a “risk for employees and need continued protections to mitigate the spread of COVID-19”. This leaves much up to interpretation and is not clearly defined by MIOSHA. In addition to this, the new MIOSHA rules for non-healthcare settings also allows employers and business owners to set their own regulations.

We have learned during this time of pandemic that COVID is spread primarily by air, and that duration and proximity are key factors in spread and transmission. This, in relation to the specifics of proximity and duration in a massage and sound therapy session, has informed our strict mask and cleaning protocols and the other efforts we have taken at 7 Notes Natural Health, especially and specifically related to air purification and air quality throughout the space.

In light of the updates at the state level, we are updating our COVID precautions in the following ways:

MASKS – It is our recommendation that when possible, clients continue the use of wearing a face covering, covering both the mouth and the nose while in treatment rooms or in shared spaces with a group. Your practitioner will continue to wear a face covering, especially during your session.

MASK FAQ – I have gotten the question on many occasions, “What if I want to continue to wear my mask?” Answer – Please continue to do what is most comfortable to you. If that means wearing a mask, then do so.

AIR PURIFICATION – We will continue to run HEPA air filters in the office in spaces that do not have direct ventilation to the outside. We will also continue to use Allergen, Bacteria, and Virus specific air filters in our HVAC system.

SCREENING – We will do verbal wellness checks along with temperature screening (at the wrist) upon arrival. As always during this time of pandemic, if you are not feeling well, please contact us to reschedule.

CLEANING and SANITATION – All spaces will continue to be cleaned following sessions and events. All clients and class participants are encouraged to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer.

I thank you for your understanding and patience as we navigate this next phase of the pandemic. I appreciate your trust in my ability to help you hear, see, and feel true wellness and I look forward to your next session.

May 18, 2021 Procedures Update

Dear Clients,

This past week the CDC updated its guidelines for COVID protocols specifically related to masks and mask regulation as it relates to fully vaccinated individuals for both outdoor and indoor settings. This prompted our Michigan legislature and governing entities to update their guidance in this same regard.

These announcements bring a mix of emotion, concerns, and layers of information to process and distill. For instance, counties and individual municipalities may still have mask mandates that have not yet run out or been adapted since the CDC’s announcement. In addition, while the state has announced that vaccinated individuals may go without a mask, MIOSHA still has mask rules pertaining to employees of all businesses registered in the state of Michigan for indoor and outdoor settings that do not expire until October, 2021.

At 7 Notes Natural Health we will continue to follow the guidance of the local and state leadership, as well as industry standards and best practices in addition to the recommendations of the CDC. Our top priority is always to provide you with the safest possible environment to hear, see, and feel true wellness.

To that end, our staff will continue wearing masks while in the lobby/waiting area and in your treatment room throughout your session. We ask the same of our clients. Additionally, at this time, we feel it is necessary to change how we handle our COVID pre-screening prior to each appointment. Beginning May 24, 2021 we will no longer perform pre-screening 24 hours prior to your appointment via phone or online form. We have posted the pre-screening considerations at the door and near to the desk. We will check in with you about these questions when you arrive. We continue to ask everyone to remove your shoes when you enter. We will continue to perform temperature screenings. All clients are encouraged to either wash their hands or use hand sanitizer. All of our cleaning and sanitizing procedures will remain in tact.

As always, thank you for allowing me to serve you through massage, sound therapy, Reiki, and natural health consulting.

February 22, 2021 Procedures Update

Communication about potential COVID-19 exposure will be shared by phone call and will not be left as a voicemail. One attempt will be made by phone to communicate potential COVID-19 exposure.

If not reached by phone on the first attempt , an email will be sent. This email will be sent to all potentially exposed individuals and updates will follow as they are available.

According to the advice of Public Health Advisors a face shield will be worn when working above the waste when the client is supine (face up).

Clients are asked to wait 10 days before making an appointment after traveling outside of the state and after attending any large gathering.

Procedures related to exposure refer to direct COVID-19 exposure as well as secondary exposure. Due to the proximity and duration of appointments at 7 Notes Natural Health, we will treat both scenarios as a COVID-19 exposure.

August 15, 2020 Procedures Update

1) NEW Pre-Screening ONLINE Form

After receiving your input, I have developed an online Google form for our 24-hour COVID pre-screening to streamline the process.  If you are able, please complete this form 24 hours prior to each appointment.  You will receive an email reminder 48 hours prior to your appointment.  A link to the pre-screening form will be included in that email.  NOTE – If you prefer not to do this step online, a pre-screening phone call will still be made to those who do not complete the form online by noon the day before their appointment.

2) Updated Temperature Check

In light of recent research about infrared thermometers being aimed at the forehead, we will now be taking your temperature at your wrist or the inside crook of your elbow.

3) Updated Arrival Procedure

I encourage all clients to arrive 5 minutes prior to your appointment time to accommodate for the additional time required to wash hands and perform the temperature screening.  Previously, all clients have been asked to wait in their car until I call.  The new procedure will remove this one step.  Please continue to arrive 5 minutes prior to your appointment time and come right in.  If the door is locked, please knock.

June 7, 2020 Update

For months now we have all been sheltering in place and doing our part to help the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19.  On Friday, June 5th, we learned that with Executive Order 2020-114 massage therapy can return to work for all of the state of Michigan effective June 15th.  For some parts of the state, massage therapy may return sooner; but for southeast Michigan, June 15th is our date!

Understandably, along with this news comes many emotions.  For some this brings excitement, eagerness, and enthusiasm.  While for others it brings fear, anxiety, and nervousness.  Please rest assured that at 7 Notes Natural Health, it is my goal to provide for you a safe space to meet your needs wherever you fall in this beautiful spectrum of emotions.

Along with the news of the ability to reopen comes many new requirements and regulations for reopening.  To that end, I am planning on reopening my business in phases.  Below is the anticipated schedule for reopening.

Wednesday 9 am – 1:30 pm

Thursday 9 am – 5 pm

Friday 9 am – 5 pm

I will be sending a separate email with all of the details on sanitation, procedures, etc. by June 15th.  Until that time, know that I will be working to put into place the best practices, procedures, and policies that carry every intent to provide the safest environment possible for everyone.  These practices, procedures, and policies are informed by the advisement of the CDC, ABMP, VSA, OSHA. and LARA/the Sate of Michigan (as outlined in Executive Order 2020-114).

Scheduling – Beginning June 7th, clients who had appointments booked prior to the shut down, along with package holders, will be contacted first to reschedule those appointments.  Online/open booking will be available to everyone beginning June 15th for appointments as described above.

You may be asking “Why not reopen right away on June 15?”.  The simple answer is that this time frame allows me the time to properly prepare and put into place all of the procedural components that need to be put into place.  As well, this time frame allows for the purchase of additional safety equipment, PPE, and sanitation supplies (much of which has been on backorder for months).  The final reason is that this allows me the time that I need to finish recovering from an illness (not COVID-19) that I have been dealing with during this time.

I understand that this is a time of many emotions and I am eternally grateful for your support, patience, and flexibility as we have navigated this journey through this phase of COVID-19.

In an effort to be as accommodating as possible, I will continue to bring you online offerings via Facebook LIVE at least through the month of June and into July.  See below for a full listing of my offerings including informative presentations and sound bath meditations.
