Singing Bowls

Himalayan Singing Bowls, also sometimes erroneously referred to as Tibetan Singing Bowls, have been handcrafted in the Himalayas for centuries. Metalworkers use ancient techniques, the highest quality virgin metals (bronze, an alloy of copper and tin), and modern science to formulate what is known as “the perfect singing bowl”. The Himalayan Singing Bowls used in my practice feature a unique custom production process that has been engineered to create the most precise singing bowls available in the world. Each singing bowls is carefully designed and then hand created by the most skilled metal artisans. Himalayan Singing Bowls are used professionally in the fields of relaxation, music therapy, health care, meditation, education, massage, spa, counseling, motivation, self help, and Vibrational Sound Therapy. They are played with a felt or suede covered striker or mallet. They can be played like a gong by gently striking the bowl and allowing the striker to rebound or “sung” by dragging the striker around the rim of the bowl.

Benefits of Sound Therapy with Singing Bowls

During a Sound Therapy with Singing Bowls session, the body will go through noticeable changes as it responds to deeper states of relaxation and rest. Muscles lose tension, and breathing and heart rates start to slow down as the body begins to receive the waves of vibration.

This relaxed state creates an environment for the body where it is free to repair itself, instead of responding to the stressors of daily life. The immune system is at its best when we are relaxed. The body is prime for healing at this time. In fact, Sound Therapy with Singing Bowls is so gentle and nurturing that often times clients fall asleep at some point during the session.

Some of the additional benefits of Sound Therapy can include:

  •  Deep relaxation and meditative states
  •  Reduction of stress and anxiety
  •  Lessening feelings of anger and fear
  •  Increased feelings of happiness, joy, and tranquility
  •  Ease of chronic pain and inflammation
  •  Improvement of the human immune function
  •  Lowering of heart rate and blood pressure
  •  Stimulation of deeper sleep
  •  Reduction in fatigue and depression

Relaxation and meditative states have been shown to increase the threshold for emotional response. This means that a Sound Therapy Session can assist you in dealing with the stress of daily life. Like other kinds of meditation, Sound Therapy can help us be more internally aware and more present in the moment, allowing us to connect with our surroundings.

“The large metal bowl sits heavily in my hand. I strike the rim gently with a felt-tipped beater. A humming, singing sound envelopes me. The deep, throbbing undertones gradually change into undulating overtones. I strike the bowl again, and then again and again. The more I strike, the more the room in which I am sitting is filled with sound. The sound calms me. I gradually lose an awareness of time and place. I am living in the sound and the sound is living in me.”

Grounding Bowls

This large bowl brings deep vibrations that are excellent for grounding, thus it’s name.  In a session, this bowl is used off the body at the feet or under the table.  As a stand alone experience, the grounding bowl can be used in a brief session to bring a sense of calm, relaxation and profound grounding to the client.
